It is a great pleasure to invite you to the International Scientific Conference “Population and Environment: Challenges and Perspectives”. The organizer of this  conference is the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Geography, in cooperation with the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Organizational Sciences, the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Economics and Business, the Social Sciences Institute, with support of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia.

The conference aims to bring together researchers from Serbia and abroad, focusing on demographic processes and environmental challenges from diverse perspectives, including – but not limited – to demography, economics, sociology, environmental sciences, spatial planning, and geography. Submissions may focus on historic, current or forward looking, empirical analyses, and methodological advances. Potential topics include: Demographic challenges of the 21st century (aging and human capital, low fertility, mortality,  living arrangements, migration, public health, regional demographic challenges); Environmental challenges; Population dynamics under environmental challenges

The goals of the conference are the exchange of scientific knowledge, experiences and the presentation of new results in order to better understand the relationship between the population and the environment. The conference will consist of plenary lectures, panel discussions and sessions through which the exchange of ideas on this field will be encouraged.

Plenary lecturers at the conference will be Vladimir Đurđević, University of Belgrade – Faculty of Physics, Raya Muttarak, University of Bologna – Department of Statistical Sciences, Roman Hoffman, IIASA International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis and Robert Stojanov, Faculty of Business and Economics, Mendel University, Czech Republic.

Submission of abstracts will last until March 31, 2025.
