As one of the oldest demographic journals in the world and the oldest in the Balkans, Stanovništvo was first published in 1963 by the Center for Demographic Research of the National Institute of Social Sciences, Belgrade (Serbia). Since 1990, the Association of Demographers of Serbia has co-published the journal.

Stanovništvo is a peer-reviewed, diamond open-access scientific journal that publishes peer-reviewed papers from a range of disciplines in the field of population studies and related public policy implications. The journal has regional focus on countries of former Yugoslavia but publishes articles from other geographical contexts as well.

Call for Assistant Editors and Guest Editors

The international scientific journal Stanovništvo, co-published by DDS and indexed in WoS and Scopus, invites interested researchers to apply for the position of Assistant Editor, as well as to submit proposals for thematic blocks and guest editors.

The call is intended for researchers in the field of demography and related disciplines who wish to contribute to the development of the journal, the advancement of scientific debate, and the strengthening of the international visibility of population research.

Assistant Editors will be responsible for specific thematic areas of the journal, while proposals for thematic blocks are accepted twice a year — by June 20 and December 20.
