We are pleased to inform all our members, as well as the wider academic community, that the Association of Demographers of Serbia, as a co-publisher of the Journal Stanovništvo, has made the complete content of all past issues (1963-1996) of this oldest demographic scientific journal in the Balkans accessible on its website.
Every segment of the journal, from the imprint and table of contents to articles, reviews, commentaries, statistical supplements, and every other type of contribution published since its inception, is now available for download in PDF format, including the cover pages.
This initiative has met the numerous requests, both domestic and international, from researchers, students, and enthusiasts of demographic literature to make this unique repository of Yugoslav demographic thought globally accessible. Furthermore, PDF versions of scanned content hold additional significance due to the limited availability and compromised quality of printed copies, particularly when dealing with older volumes of the journal.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the former editorial staff of the Stanovništvo journal—Mirjana Rašević and Vladimir Nikitović, editors-in-chief, and the late Marina Zelić, technical editor—as well as Vanja Javor, a member of the Association of Demographers of Serbia, for their invaluable contributions to the realization of this endeavor.
The editors of the Stanovištvo journal intend to fully digitize the contents of the old issues, ensuring their full online searchability. This includes titles, authors, abstracts, and keywords, in accordance with modern bibliographic standards of international index databases. Each type of paper will be assigned its own DOI number through direct registration of the contents in the CrossRef database. However, the pace of this process will be contingent upon the available resources.
